I would say that the COVID didn't change my expat plans but it strengthened them. I'm an Italian girl who went to the Netherlands for her erasmus program and fell in love with a dutch guy. I'm sure you heard this story before. We have been dealing with the distance for almost two years and we were already thinking we needed to fix the situation at some point. The COVID made me realise that I should not give travelling so much for granted. We have been far away for 2 months now and I don't know for how long this will last. What I know is that the next time "a COVID" will come I want to be with the people I love. So, I'm now spending this time to organize my expatriation plan, hoping I'll be able to actuate it by next autumn

Hi and welcome to the Forum. A couple of points: As a new member, any links you post will be hidden until you have made 10 posts to the Forum.  If you want people to contact you at this stage, then it's best to ask them to use the Direct Message function. I suspect you won't get much help; the Forum is more typically frequented by people who are trying to find a way to another country.  Very few (if any) bother coming back once they have made it, which is the time when they would have made their mobile phone contract.  I suspect very few people outside the Netherlands actually know who/what Ziggo is or does. Hope you do get some responses and that this has helped in some way

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Exactly the same as you need for the long-term registration.  Normally, they include: -Your valid passport or ID card (not a driving licence). -Your residence permit (if applicable, either a sticker in your passport, a plastic ID card or letter from IND) - not applicable for EU citizens. -Your house rental contract. -A certified copy of your birth certificate. -Your foreign marriage certificate, certificate of registered partnership or divorce (if applicable). Note that town halls only accept official documents in Dutch, English, French or German, so you may need to get an official translation for other languages. Some documents, such as your birth certificate, may also require proof of authenticity (legalisatie) such as an apostille, which you will need to get before leaving your home country. Hope this helps

Hi all. The Dutch Government have just announced that the currently restricted measures have been extended until Tuesday 28 April 2020 and that after that, life will not return to normal for a long time, so do not expect a return to business as usual. The Dutch Government have a COVID-19 information website; this link will take you there.  Lots of useful information. Hope this helps

Hi and welcome to the Forum. It's time to go speak to the Gemeente and tell them what's happened.  There's no point trying to hide this because ultimately, you'll be found out and then be in trouble for trying to hide it. Hope this helps

There are 2 possibilities; one work-based, the other family-based.  For the work-based opportunity, it's doable, but only if there are vacancies in the Netherlands that can't be filled by somebody already resident there.  For the family-based opportunity, your information tells me you're living in Belgium, so that would close that opportunity. The details of the requirements you need for the work-based opportunity are on the Dutch Government (IND) website; this link will take you there. Hope this helps

Hi and welcome to the Forum. You have already done what the law requires you to do, i.e. contact the Gemeente to register; many people wait weeks/months just to get an appointment, so I wouldn't worry about it.  If you explain the circumstances, I suspect it won't be a problem, just be honest and open with the guys in the Gemeente. Hope this helps
