  1. We are shifting to the Netherlands from India. I just wanted to get suggestions on the international roaming for Indian Sim. We found Airtel’s annual international plan, which costs 15k for the year. Is there a way to keep my number Active and have incoming SMS? Do let us know if you have better suggestions.

You don't need to buy international roaming plan. It will be way too expensive. Buy a local prepaid sim in Netherlands and use for your local and data purposes. By default, international roaming is enabled on airtel so you will get signal but just don’t pick or dial calls from airtel sim. Also, don’t use data from airtel sim. Use data from local sim and use WhatsApp of India number for calling India or receiving calls from India

  2. Those who have shifted recently to the Netherlands in August through an HSM visa, what are you doing for BSN? My appointment is in November, and as per my organization, they can’t roll out my salary until I have BSN. Is there any workaround?

I don’t remember all the details but I opened an account with ABN back in 2019 without BSN and received a salary. The condition was to provide a BSN number within 6 weeks

  3. How recently should a document be apostilled for the 1st registration at any municipality in NL? I called the Amsterdam municipality, and they said it doesn’t state how recently it should have been legalised/apostilled, so even an old one should be fine. I am not sure if the case is different with each municipality. I have one with me that was apostilled more than a year ago.

It’s mandatory in some municipalities. The requirement is that the apostilled document should not be more than 6 months old

  4. I had sent my application to surrender the Indian Passport, and all required documents to the VFS centre by PostNL registered post. I checked the track and trace code, and it shows that my post was delivered on July 5th to the VFS office. But I haven’t heard anything from them or received any email or information on my application status. Is this normal? Does it take this much time? I tried to check my application status on the VFS website, but it requires some DHL tracking code which I don’t have. Do I need to contact the VFS to check the whereabouts of my documents?

  6. My brother is trying to transfer money from his Indian bank account to my Dutch account using Wise but he gets a message that the money will first be put into RBL bank account before it gets transferred to mine. Whereas when I did the transfer from my Dutch account to Indian NRE account, mine was transferred in two Seconds. Did anyone here experience the same?

Yes it's same as you said. Due to funding some bad organizations. Money will first go to govt  to verify and then come to your account

You can't know ahead of time unless it reaches the Netherland. It is up to them to decide on custom charges. I had shipped three packages from India .for one, and they just delivered without any extra charges. 2nd one, they asked for some 30 euros. For the 3rd one, they charged 49 euros. I don't know what basis they set extra charges. all I had was some clothes and other household stuff—every package approx 19kg

  8. I am a PhD student and must apply for an extended stay visa (MVV) at the embassy. IND has already approved my application. I tried to book an appointment online, but it shows no dates available. VFS told me I had to contact the embassy directly for a long stay, so I sent them an email. Is there any other way to get an appointment?

I can see the dates available from September 5 in Delhi embassy, so basically in India there are 2 Netherlands embassy, I suggest you to opt for Delhi ones. It entirely depends on which municipality you are registering. When I went for registration, the lady officer told me to bring a maximum one-year-old birth certificate. Some of my friends didn't face this in other municipalities, so if you are unsure, make sure to have a certificate up to 6 months old
