Looking at the expat pages, there is much information about the sponsorship for a Dutch residence permit. Who or what is a sponsor? How will they help me get a permit?

    If you plan to come to the Netherlands as an employee, researcher, or highly skilled migrant, your employer will sponsor you.

    If you are coming for a family visit, let’s say your relative or partner resides in the Netherlands, then they will be your sponsor.

    If your purpose is to study, your educational institution will assume your sponsor’s role.
